Black Rice is Grown in Goalpara, Assam, by Upendra Rabha’s farmer group of 100+ farmers. Upen Da revived Black Rice in his region, now growing across 650 acres. TARU has increased community income by trainings in NaturaL Farming & Market Linkages. TARU took 2 years to streamline supply chain for Black Rice.
Desi, Indigenous Urad Dal is a Protein rich Lentil, traditionally grown in less water & for nitrogen fixing.
Black Rice is a Mother variety of Heirloom Rice , Grown with Love by Assamese Farmer Groups. Harvest Manually Picked, Processed by Women Farmers. Black rice is Transported from Assam to Warehouse to TARU Customers.
Urad Dal flour is Manually Hand Pounded, Cleaned & Stone-Milled. Quality Monitored.
1. Mix the batter with water/curd in desired consistency.
2. Thin for Dosa and thick for Idli.
3. Ferment 1 hour or overnight, as per convenience.
4. Mix batter and make your dosa/idli.
For Dosa: Add water to the black rice dosa premix and let it sit for an hour or leave it out to ferment overnight or mix enough curd/vegan curd & let it ferment for an hour! Your red rice dosa batter is ready to use. You can have your dosas soft and fluffy or thin and crisp!
For Idli: Add water to the idli premix & mix to a thicker consistency ! Treat as for dosa. Your idli batter is ready to use. Grease the idli moulds with ghee/oil before you pour the batter and steam the idlis in a cooker on a medium flame without the 'weight'. Serve with chutney and sambhar. Enjoy your soft and nutritious idlis.
BLACK RICE UTTAPPAM Ingredients – Black Rice dosa batter – 3 cups, Mixed Vegetables - 1 cup, Coriander leaves - 3 tablespoon (finely chopped), Onion - 1 (finely chopped) Method- Cook chopped vegetables and add to batter with required salt. Fry chopped onion and mix with Fermented batter with coriander leaves. Heat a flat pan and Pour ladle full of batter & spread it. Sprinkle oil around it & flip when done. Serve hot.
